Synopsis

This Custom Solution to the Payroll module changes the order of events when accruing benefits in data entry so that any vacation and, optionally, sick time used is subtracted prior to accrual taking place. Also, when reversing a check, it will subtract the actual vacation/sick hours accrued from the original check.

You must have P/R Option ‘Retain Perpetual Payroll History’ checked in order for this Custom Solution to enable.

Answer the following prompt:

INCLUDE SICK HOURS: Check this box to also modify the sick time benefit accrual calculation performed during payroll tax calculation.

You should visit this Setup screen after each upgrade or reinstallation of this Custom Solution.

Operation

This Custom Solution adds the vacation hours taken in the payroll data entry files to the ‘Vacation Hours Used’ for each employee in the vacation benefit accrual calculation which takes place during payroll tax calculation.

If ‘Include Sick Hours’ is checked, it also adds the sick hours taken in the payroll data entry files to the ‘Sick Hours Used’ for each employee in the sick benefit accrual calculation which takes place during payroll tax calculation.

This is meaningful when an employee’s available vacation/sick time is at the annual limit, they are eligible to accrue vacation/sick time on the pay entry if they weren’t at the annual limit and they have used vacation/sick time on this check which will now take them below their annual limit.

When reversing a check, this Custom Solution will subtract the actual vacation/sick hours accrued on the original check. The negative amount will show up on the benefits register per check and not by earnings code.

What’s New

With the 10-26-10 release:

• Added the option to include sick hours.

With the 06-26-06 release:

• Will now take subtract vacation hours accrued on original check when reversing check.
