Synopsis

This Extended Solution adds the ability to specify a Company Code as part of the General Journal distribution line entry. Upon finishing General Journal line entry, debits and credits are checked for each company. An error message is presented if any company is out of balance. General Journal update will make postings to the appropriate company.

Installation

Before installing any Extended Solution, please verify that the version level referenced on your installation file is the same version level as your MAS 90 MAS 200 installation. (For more information please call (800) 425-9843). It is recommended to have a complete and tested backup prior to installing any application on your Sage MAS 90 MAS 200 platform.

Extended Solutions Control Center

Installing any Extended Solution will add an Extended Solutions Control Center to the MAS 90 MAS 200 Library Master Utilities menu. When you open the Control Center, the following options will be available:

  • Merge Installation Files
  • Extended Solutions Setup options

Custom Office

If you customize your MAS 90 MAS 200, then you must run the Update Utility every time you install this Extended Solution.

Setup

Upon completion of software installation, you will need to access Extended Solutions Setup from the General ledger Setup menu. Select this part number, and the Setup screen for this Extended Solution will appear (Figure 1). Check the ‘Enable Extended Solution’ box to activate this Extended Solution.

You should visit this Setup screen after each upgrade or reinstallation of this Extended Solution.

When this Extended Solution is installed for the first time, any existing customization on the General Journal Entry grid made by the end user during data entry (e.g. moved columns) will be deleted in order for this Extended Solution to insert a Company Code column to the grid. You can re-apply your customizations after this Extended Solution is enabled.

This Extended Solution cannot be disabled if you have multi-company account numbers on file in the General Journal Detail table or the Standard Journal Detail table (Figure 2). You need to delete or update those general journal entries yourself. But you will be prompted to delete standard journal entries by this Extended Solution (Figure 3).

Operation

The General Journal Line’s grid has been modified with a Company Code column (Figure 4). Enter the Company Code that you wish to post this line to and then enter an account number from that company. Once the account number is defined, the company code field will be locked. You must be authorized to be able to create General Journal entry in that company code.

Upon finishing General Journal entry, the debits and credits for each company are checked. An out of balance error is displayed identifying the company and the amount out of balance (Figure 5).

Visual Integrator Import

When defining an import into the General Journal Header or Standard Journal Header table, the D001_CompanyCode field must precede the AccountKey field in the Data tab. If you use long G/L Account Numbers, the length of the AccountKey field should be changed from 9 to the longest of all the account numbers to be imported.

ODBC Dictionary

The files listed below have been added, or changed, in the ODBC Dictionaries by this Extended Solution for Crystal Reports purposes.
